Shiitake Mushroom Powder
Botanical Name: Lentinula edodes
Country of Origin: China
Plant Part: Fruiting body and mycelium
Famous for their rich texture and smoky flavour, they're the second most commonly cultivated edible mushrooms, readily available on market shelves worldwide. Compared with white button mushrooms, shiitakes are purported to have more than 10 times the flavour.
Adding Shiitake powder to drinks, soups, stews, vegetables, and even steak can be a great way to add that savoury, meaty flavour.
Sprinkle on your eggs, avocado, salad, you name it! And if you really want to fancy things up try this recipe:
50g of Shiitake Mushroom Powder
1 cup of Himalayan Pink Salt (fine ground)
1 tablespoon of your preferred chili powder (depending
on how hot you like it!)
2 teaspoons dried thyme (could substitute for Oregano
or even Rosemary)
1 teaspoon of black pepper powder (or give long
pepper a go)
Pop this in a nice glass jar and it would make a beautiful gift!
