Incense

Though the origins of incense are hotly debated among historians and incense enthusiasts, one thing that can be agreed upon is that burning botanicals for health, spiritual practices, and cultural events has ancient roots.

There are records dating back thousands of years from Egypt, Sumeria, Mesopotamia, China, Mongolia and other areas of the Middle East that provide a rich history of burning botanicals.

My Herb Clinic is proud to present our extensive range of pure, raw incense, continuing this age-old tradition of preparing, burning and using botanical incenses for spiritual development, cultural practices, aromatherapy, and personal enjoyment. Incense is traditionally kept close to its botanical source rather than being a mass-produced pressed compound that can often contain fragrant additives and burning agents, which reduce the quality of incense and can also be harmful when inhaled.

Loose incense

Whole crushed loose incense is the oldest form of incense used by cultures worldwide, providing beautiful aromatics and providing optimal mental and physical health benefits.

These types of incense are best burned on an altar coal or charcoal and allowed to burn until it has vapourised and burned off; however, you can produce some beautiful botanical smells by throwing a small amount into an open fire.

Our extensive collection of whole crushed incense includes classic incense botanicals such as:

  • Myrrh
  • Red Sage
  • Sage
  • Lavender
  • Agarwood
  • Poppy
  • Mugwort
  • Damiana
  • Calamus
  • Cyprus
  • Coltsfoot Leaf and more

These raw botanicals are ideal for blending and burning or making your own unheated incense sachets for hanging on doors or placing in drawers, cupboards and keeping in your car.

Resins

Resins are made from the oils and saps of plants and trees and produce intense fragrances that fill the room and permeate your home with stunning aromas.

We stock a wide range of resins and resin powders, including:

  • Myrrh gum
  • Pure Frankincense
  • Gum Dammar
  • Copal
  • Sal tree
  • Benzoin Sumatra and more

We also have a selection of fine resin powders, including:

  • Buddha resin powder
  • Frankincense powder

Each blend has been carefully balanced to allow each botanical to work its magic when burnt, helping cleanse the air in your home and inspire body, mind and spiritual health.

Smudge sticks

A smudge stick is made of a small to medium bundle of botanicals and resins held together with twine or vine and then burnt from one end, creating thick aromatic smoke that fills a room or spiritual space, like a temple or altars.

While the art of 'smudging' most often involves a smudge stick, loose smudges can also be used, similar to loose incense.

Smudging is most famous in shamanic cultures, like North American Indian spiritual practices; however, smudging can be traced back to ancient civilisations, such as Pagan Celts, Scandinavian religions, and more modern spiritual crafts such as Wicca.

In traditional Chinese medicine, moxibustion sticks, commonly made of Mugwort, were used to provide deep heat to stimulate energy meridians, improve blood flow and release tight muscles and tissues.

It is also thought that smudge sticks, most commonly made of White Sage, also help cleanse the air of pathogens, like bacteria and viruses, and have been used for centuries to keep homes free from contagious illnesses.

Our collection of premium smudge sticks, loose smudges, and smudge blends use the highest-quality botanicals, featuring classic smudges such as:

  • Desert Sage
  • Mugwort
  • Coltsfoot
  • Copal and Sage
  • White Sage and Lavender
  • Euphorbia blend
  • Dreamy bowl blend
  • Organic happy puff blend and more

Cleanse the air and energy of your home, and make way for better health, abundance, new beginnings and spiritual balance with our premium collecting of smudges.
