Butterfly pea flower tea is an incredibly popular herbal drink, for both hot and cold uses, made from dried butterfly pea flowers. It is caffeine-free and comes from a plant which is native to Southeast Asia. The flowers are a gorgeous deep blue hue, with a tinge of purple that colours and lightly flavours the water. The flavour has been described as slightly sweet, but neutral and pleasant, and easily blends into other flavours, like other stronger flavoured herbs, sparkling water, or lemonade for example. The colour goes from blue to purple when the pH level changes. Adding something acidic like lemon juice changes the colour.

BREW IT HOT

1.5 teaspoons of loose dried flowers in one cup of hot water

STEEP TIME: 5 minutes 

BREW IT COLD

1.5 teaspoons of loose dried flowers to one cup of cold water

STEEP TIME: 12 hours in the fridge or make it faster by following the instructions or the hot infusion, allow this to cool by popping in some ice cubes and enjoy!

Herbal teas can often be rebrewed between sittings.
