Jamaica dogwood is well-known herb that has been used as an ingredient in traditional remedies for migraines and neuralgia (severe stabbing nerve pain), insomnia, anxiety, nervous support, dysmenorrhea, menstrual cramps, and also arthritic complaints plus more.
The root can be prepared as a herbal tea or infusion, though only small quantities should be used. The suggested preparation is 1/2 teaspoon per cup of water for tea.
Caution: It is not recommended for children or pregnant or breastfeeding women to consume this herb. It can have an additive effect with sedative medications, causing increased drowsiness.
