Description

Organic Catnip (Catmint) Leaf

Botanical Name: Nepeta cataria
Place of Origin: United States of America
Organic Status: Organic
Plant Part: Aerials
Form: Tea cut

Catnip is sometimes called Catmint, or Catswort, however Catmint can also refer to a different subspecies of Nepeta. Before tea from China was introduced to England, Catnip was a common beverage and was recognised as an official medicine, particularly as an ideal Children's remedy. Catnip can be combined with other herbs, such as lavender or chamomile, to enhance its effects and add flavour to the woodsy, grassy taste. This calming tea is best to have before bed.
Catnip
is also a favourite herb of most cats, which many of them go crazy over. If you are purchasing the herb for feline entertainment, ensure you are getting Nepeta cataria, as other subspecies may not have the same effect.

Loose Leaf Tea Instructions: Can be brewed like a loose leaf tea. Boil water (90°C to 100°C) and add between 1 teaspoon and 1 tablespoon of herbal blend per cup of water. Pour boiled water over the tea and allow to steep for at least 5 minutes before straining and serving.  Honey or vegan sweeteners can be used to sweeten and enhance the flavour.

Herbal teas can often be rebrewed between sittings.

The above instructions are general guidelines only, and brew strengths and times can be adjusted to suit personal taste.

It is the nature of a natural product that there may be some differences in cut consistency, colour, and taste, due to changes in growing conditions, harvest time, and processing.
