Sourdough “Showgirl” decoration: step-by-step
You’ll need:
- Your proofed loaf, lame/razor, small sieve, stencil (leaf/fern/flower), and one of: Beetroot Powder, Matcha, or Blue Butterfly Pea Powder.
Method:
- Chill the dough 15–20 minutes uncovered for a drier surface.
- Stencil & dust: Lay your stencil on the loaf. Sieve a thin veil of Beetroot Powder or Matcha. Lift gently.
- Score lines: Score around the motif to frame it.
- Optional wash: Mix Blue Butterfly Pea Powder with water and lightly brush selected scores for extra contrast.
- Bake as usual until the crust opens like a stage curtain.

1. Blushing Lemonade (serves 2)

- 1–2 tbsp lemon juice (or Lemon Juice Powder to taste)
- Ice, lemon slices

- 2 tsp Hibiscus Flower Powder
- 4–6 orange slices
- Method: Stir powder into sparkling water, add orange slices and ice.
