Medicinal use of hops can be traced back as early as the 9th century and was mainly used as a sedative and bitter. German Commission E approved its use for the treatment of anxiety, restlessness and as a sedative. It contains the B-complex Vitamins and the minerals Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Manganese, Iron, Sodium and traces of Iodine.
