Aniseed is a small brown seed taken from the Anise plant (Pimpinella anisum) which is native to the Mediterranean and Southwest Asian region. This sweet, aromatic seed was a highly valuable commodity in Ancient Greece and Rome due to its many health benefits that could treat several ailments. It’s a wonderful culinary spice that pairs well with citrus fruits and as a seasoning for different meats.
