Bay Bean has a long history of use in South America with seeds found at ancient sites dated to 300 BC, and some websites state that it was a valued food source on board Captain Cook's vessel during his travels. This may be true as we were able to find a botanical watercolour of the plant made by Sydney Parkinson during Captain Cook's first voyage.
The leaves have been traditionally steeped and used as tea, as well as used as a herbal smoke. Reviews of the herb state it is lovely and mellow when used without other herbs, but it may act as a 'potentiator' or work synergistically to enhance other herbs.
Other herbs that would pair well with Bay Bean are Kanna, Blue Lotus, White Lotus, Red Lotus, Sacred Lotus, and Klipp Dagga.
